Marc Kline
Hello, my name is Marc Kline and I have one wife, Jackie, and two daughters, Leah and Hope.
Recently, I have enjoyed participating in a small group led by Marc Downing and the first scripture we memorized was about assurance of salvation. 1 John 5:11-12, “And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
We have a great God and Savior in Jesus Christ. I met Him when I was very young and I’d like to share a few times in my life that have impacted my spiritual formation: Israel, Petra and Romans.
When I was in 3rd grade, my family lived in Israel while my dad was studying to be a pastor. I have vivid memories of where Jesus walked and taught, and seeing where David hid from Saul among so much more. This experience was impactful for me.
During the Fall of my Senior year at Schoolcraft High School, I went to a Petra concert. At that concert, the Lord moved in my heart and I felt him calling me to own this faith that I had.
After graduation I went to college at KVCC for 2 years. During my time there, I joined a Bible Quiz Bowl group at the church I attended and my faith grew as I memorized large portions of Romans and James. One of my favorite passages from Romans is found in chapter 8:1-2 (NIV)
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
This has often encouraged me in my walk with Jesus by knowing what law I am under now. I can rest in His grace and be free from false guilt. Guilt that often can come when I reflect on my mistakes as a husband and father.
At Taylor University, I met my wife Jackie and am so blessed to have a godly woman at my side. As I look back through life as a husband and father, the Lord has taught me so much about his character specifically his patience and faithfulness. Qualities which I have tried to reflect to my family and those I encounter daily.
I thank God for the many ways he has blessed me. He is good. Thank you.
Greg Schrock
Hello ReCAST. I am Greg Schrock. I am currently 53 years old. I have worked as an anesthesiologist at Bronson and Borgess Hospitals in town for almost 20 years. My family and I have called Recast our church home since January of 2013. My wife Pam and I became members at Recast in the summer of 2013.
I grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago and was blessed to grow up in a home where both of my parents loved the Lord and served in the church actively. My entire childhood, I can’t ever remember a time where our family was not actively involved in serving at church. I still have fond memories of my dad serving as a youth pastor when I was younger and also as interim worship leader and choir director when I was in high school.
I came to know Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of 12 during the summer of my sixth grade year with my mom at my side.
I again was blessed tremendously by God when I met my future wife 14 years later at the very same church where I had grown up and came to know Christ. Pam and I have been married for over 25 years and have two children. Many of you know our son David, who has played on the worship team intermittently since 2013 and is currently a junior at Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids. Many of you know our daughter Kathryn, who has worked in the children’s ministry and is a freshman at Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL.
I would like to share with you a few verses from 1 Corinthians. Paul told the Corinthians, “9 For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.10 According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. 11 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:9-11, ESV).
It has been my desire as an adult to see God’s Church built on the foundation of Jesus Christ. And specifically, here at Recast, I feel a strong sense of duty and desire to build upon that which Pastor Don and many of our previous elders have built upon which is the foundation of Jesus Christ.
