I still make a daily trip to the mailbox - more often to mail a postcard or letter but always with the anticipation of getting a written word from someone. Now "writing" isn't even being taught in the schools! Still make photo albums, too! It's great fun to look at them with the grandkids.

I fortunately still have my landline, and I say fortunately because I personally like to talk to someone(ear to ear) (face to face). I don't want text, tweet or really a cell phone even though I have a pre-pay cell. I only have that because some family members can't always get hold of you when they want and usually they just want something from you anyways not just to talk. They get what they want and hang up! This generation is totally out of conversation in the verbal form and this saddens me deeply. I feel like I'm out of sorts because of not having all these luxuries of life. The technology today is interferring with sooo much drama, fighting, and total disfunction in todays world, if we didn't have access to all this drama related stufff look where our world would be. Thanks Don for posting and making people think about their conversations of today!

Well said, man. I found the part about standing in the cold in my skivvies very convicting, actually. We do expose ourselves to too much junk. I happen to like funny television and though my sensitivity has increased with my maturity, there's still a lot of junk I let in (so maybe I at least have a scarf on). I need to just go inside, get dressed, and trust that what God says is unclean is unclean.

This is a good reminder to be on the alert. And to keep up with regular "washing" and "disinfecting".

I forgot to add one of the best books I read this year. Naked Gospel by Andrew Farley. It is an excellent book that explains that the Christian life is all about grace and not about laws and rules.

I am thankful for my beautiful bride and 4 wonderful children. I am thankful ReCAST and other churches and individuals who have partnered with us in ministry to see our family onto the field in Costa Rica. Finally, I am thankful for a heavenly Father who sent his Son to die for me. All the above are things I do not deserve... but in God's grace and mercy He has given me.

By example. Living my own life in a morally righteous life of humility, grace, and love is the most effective way (in my opinion) to touch the lives of my generation. When I see those who are truly happy, content, and loving I know theres a way to be like that. Those who don't want to live like that are more than likely(in my opinion) only afraid of what selfish aspects of themselves they would have to give up to be like that, and are too prideful to think they are anything short of perfect anyways. Even with these types the seed is planted when they see a truly happy person and know there is a way. This is why I think it is important to spread the Word to those who may not want to hear it. In less words people will do what they want and the more good examples the more likely they are to take to them when they are ready. I need try to be the best person I can be, and pray that my peers will try to be the best people they can be. Consistent (assuming I don't isolate from society) and, in my opinion, powerful.

I totally agree that ending a fetus life is barbaric, but ending it because it would be Gay is judgement on that child already and that anyone who thinks this stuff up has too much time on their hands, if they'd use that time in a Godly way look where we would all be in Gods eyes and heart. These issue wouldn't come to surface as they do. I don't think a child is born Gay period!
