Thanksgiving is perhaps my favorite holiday. I’m not a huge fan of turkey, cranberry sauce, or stuffing. Don’t get me wrong, I will still have my share of food on Thanksgiving Day, but the traditional foods are not what I look forward to most. Instead, what I look forward to are a different kind of fixin’s!
I love the time away from the routine with extended family! We have been going to Cleveland to spend time with Linda’s family for the past few years and it has been a great time away. Me and my two brothers-in-law have ran a 5 mile turkey trot in downtown Cleveland for a few years in a row. My kids have a blast with all their cousins. We often take a nice walk in the woods. And there IS food . . .
And everyone is thankful for the chance to get together. There is something about Thanksgiving that still seems pure and uncommercialized. I have so many things to be thankful for and it is great to have a day set aside to consider the many blessings we all have received.
What are you thankful for? What are some of your Thanksgiving traditions? Don’t forget to take pause and give thanks BEFORE the Black Friday shopping hits!
