God’s grace has been evident in ReCAST church over the past four years. We started on April 19, 2009 with about 30 people in the basement of a home in Mattawan. This past week I counted up the number of volunteers to make our Sunday morning programs run, and there were over 30 workers! We have been close to 300 in attendance for a few weeks in a row. Lives are being transformed. The Word is going out. Community is being established in our gathering. People are spontaneously serving one another.
On top of all of this, we have been able to save enough money from the regular offerings that we recently placed a cash offer on property in the Mattawan area where we eventually hope to build a new church facility. What amazes me most in this is that we have not asked for money. We do not pass an offering plate. We have a little black box in the back of the church where people can put money if they choose to. And through that little black box we have exceeded our expenses every month!
It is not all about numbers, but I do believe that money is a good indicator of our hearts! People will not give to something that they are not excited about, and it is obvious that God has granted ReCAST a sense of His blessing through the voluntary giving each week.
On the property front, we have a bid in on a bank auction that is still up in the air. I would ask that you please pray that our offer is acceptable to the bank and that they respond in a timely fashion. Waiting is one of the hardest things, but I have also found that nothing quite fuels prayer like waiting.
