Guess what? Jesus is coming back!! Despite being a nation with a large percentage of people who would call themselves Christians, I wonder if I am in the minority of people who actually believe this is true.
Ironically, it seems like there is always someone predicting His return is soon. Someone will tie his second advent to the most recent headlines and predict that it will be in this generation. Some will even predict the year, month, and day.
I look forward to that day. I believe it will be a day that signals a final judgement that rights all wrongs! I believe that it will be a day of restoration, it will be a day of glory, awe and power!
As much as I look forward to that day, I cannot even venture a guess as to when it will happen. There have always been wars. There have always been diseases. There have always been troubles for Israel. There have always been radically evil forces in the world who need to be dealt with.
ISIL, Ebola, and war in Israel tell me nothing about the timing of the return of Jesus Christ. But these things do serve as reminders that he is returning. And when he returns he will right all wrongs, remove all sickness and death, and come back for His people.
I rejoice with anticipation of the return of Jesus Christ. I want it to be today, even while I acknowledge that it could be millennia away. Are you looking forward to that day?
