This week marked the three year anniversary of ReCAST in our current building! It has been an amazing journey and God has richly blessed us. We have continued to grow since that first Sunday and we now have between 150-200 in attendance on Sunday mornings. It has also been amazing to see God provide for the ministries of the church through offerings given each week. We have taken in what we needed every month since the start!
But the most amazing thing in these past three years is to reflect back on the changed lives! Time after time, God has brought in hurting, confused and broken people and He has opened their eyes to the light of the glory of the good news found in Jesus Christ. People have experienced forgiveness, extended forgiveness, and many have had their feet set on the pathway of salvation through the cross of Jesus.
I rejoice in these three years and love what ReCAST has become. But in all honestly, I was hoping that three years in I would feel more firm. I still firmly believe that if God were to bring it all down, I would be able to say, thanks for the amazing ride! These three years have been worth all the work, time, restless nights, and emotional investment. I do not at all believe that ReCAST is going away, but I do believe that a church-planter can hang on too tight. I long for it to continue to grow for the glory of God. But I can’t make it continue to grow and I am convinced that it is possible to NEED it to grow too much.
God has done great things here in Mattawan, Michigan! He has blessed me as a pastor with a front row seat to changed lives! I look forward to the coming year with anticipation for what God is going to do through this gathering of people called ReCAST Church!
