You may have noticed we have more people coming on Sunday mornings. More people coming to hear the Word of God and to worship God with us is always a good thing. This growth has come from many different demographics: people moving into the Mattawan area, people coming to church for the first time, curious atheists, people who haven’t been to church in a long time and are trying it again, and many who’ve been invited by YOU…
We have added more seats and reconfigured how they are set up. We have asked for kids in the K-5th grades to temporarily start the service in their classrooms to make more room in the big room. We have attempted to get people to scoot in to the middle. 🙂
And we are still tight for space. When this happens in a church, the people who start falling away usually are not the newer people but the people who have been around church for a while and suddenly someone else is sitting in their seat or they feel like the church is too big and they don’t “people” anymore. And we don’t want to lose any of YOU…
So, the elders deem it wise to expand to two services this fall.
Despite the discomfort that comes from two services, we believe this move allows us to be faithful to our mission to ‘worship Him and find more worshippers for His name‘. We believe that to do nothing at this point is to inhibit that mission. In light of this elder decision, the staff are preparing to meet at two different times starting on the Sunday morning after Labor Day. We would like you to give us some feedback by filling out this short five question survey. We really would like for all our ReCAST members to fill that out.
As you heard at the last family meeting, we have consulted with our builder and have some plans drawn up for a possible building expansion. This could start soon if God provides finances for us but this would be a long term solution and does not help us in the short term.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments about the two service format coming up. I’d love to get together with any of you! We are hoping to have a Family Meeting on Sunday, August 6 to talk about this more so put that on your calendar.
Until the Nets Are Full,
Pastor Don
