God has blessed ReCAST Church with excellent staff over the years. David Schrock has been our youth director for a couple of years now. He has built up the programs for middle school (ReCAST 180) and high school (Gravity) to a place where we have a great volunteer base in both programs and a fun and healthy ministry to the students in those demographics.
He has felt the Lord directing him in a different direction for his career and has resigned his role here at ReCAST to start the police academy in just a few short days. I am grateful that he is still willing to continue to teach Gravity until we find his replacement.
The elders believe that this is a time to build on the gains we have see in student ministry in the past couple of years and it is time for us to look into a full-time person to pick up where David has left off. We are giving this position the title of “Youth Pastor Intern” and it will be a full-time position. We are including the house out front as part of the compensation in order to keep the overall cost to the church reasonable. The reason we are calling this an internship, is to allow a year to determine the fit between the intern and the church.
If all works well, the goal would be to drop intern from the title after a year. We are currently posting the position to various colleges and through social media. If you know someone who is interested, please send them a link to the job description and encourage them to send in a resume.
That would be cool, but what would even be better would be to pray for the right person to be led to this position! I am confident that God has good plans for ReCAST in the coming year, and I truly believe that investment in our students will be a major step forward at this time.
