I love the summer! Hot weather, lunch at home with the family, Fridays at the beach, the sounds of sprinklers, and fresh produce. And then I looked at the calendar and realized that we have a little over two weeks before schools starts!
And my heart leaped for joy. You see I love the summer until the fall comes, and then I love the fall until the winter comes and then I love the winter until the spring comes . . . I am looking forward to bonfires, the smell of burning leaves, the colors of the trees, and the crisp chill in the air, and trips to the apple orchard.
God designed the seasons! They were his idea and I like to imagine him giving the earth a little nudge and tilting it at just the right angle, and calling it very good. It can become easy to complain about the heat in the summer, the cold in the winter, the rain in the spring . . . (and I can’t think up something people complain about in the Fall) . . . But let’s rejoice in the season in which God has placed us. Let’s look at the good that is all around us, and make the best of every season of life.
