I have been greatly encouraged in the past year by taking in preaching from other pastors, and reading good blogs. I would like to pass along a couple of resources that I regularly take advantage if with the hope that some of you will also benefit spiritually from the great stuff available for free on the web.
Blogs:
I subscribe to the Gospel Coalition Blog. There are tons of good blog entries available from a variety of gospel-centered authors
Desiring God from John Piper is an excellent resource with encouraging and challenging content.
For Podcasts, the following are preachers that I listen to, often while I am running.
Tim Keller, from Redeemer Presbyterian in New York. Very academic, very gifted, and very passionate.
John Piper, from Bethlehem Baptist in Minneapolis. Amazing passion, amazing grasp on the Word. He is one of the best preachers in this generation.
Matt Chandler, from The Village Church in Dallas. Very direct, grace-centered preaching. He is not afraid to be serious, but has a great sense of humor.
Please let me know if you intend to listen in or check out any of these blogs. Do you have any to recommend to me in this new year?
My childhood friend Steve has one, he is a pastor in California. Just google the desert chronicle then click life under the sun. Very insightful blog and he says he has meet you before. Hope all is well this week! Joe
Thanks for the info! I was going to ask you again about the pastor in NY, whom I have not listened to! I also have been greatly encouraged by these resources this past year Driscolls real marriage was excellent. I also have enjoyed Ligon Duncan Pastor of 1st Presbyterian church in Jackson Mississippi. Prayed for you tonight with the girls also praying for your family. Love you brother Jay
Jay: I loved Ligon Duncan at the conference last year but haven’t added him to my podcasts. Thanks for the reminder. I think you’ll love Tim Keller! Appreciate your prayers and know that they are coming back your way too.
